That explains the flash photo in one of the pictures. The March date must have been when the construction was completed. And the festivities obviously had continued for quite a while.EyeDochttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00406602265159523372noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8811556140606524073.post-88480178767327946212011-02-15T05:17:14.119+08:002011-02-15T05:17:14.119+08:00According to “Tamsui Our Town”「 咱淡水」(http://www.ma...According to “Tamsui Our Town”「 咱淡水」(http://www.mackay.com.tw/03_05_03.htm)
The construction of Tamsui Jin-Ja, 「淡水神社」was completed on June 1st, 1939. The population of Tamsui was then only 9,517 that included a first grader named ChoSan. I remembered well the day we went to worship 参拝 the Jin-Ja for the first time. It was a chilly morning before day break and we were ordered to line up in the school yard of Tamsui Elementary School then marched to Jin-Ja. We probably had passed the clinic operated by EyeDoc’s father, also Mr. Hirokawa San’s house near Tamsui Post Office on the way to Jin-Ja though it was years before their time. March 11, 1939 might be the day Tamsui Jin-Ja was dedicated, however it was not open to the public until June 1, 1939; I guess.
ChoSanAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8811556140606524073.post-39211506274857898482011-02-14T11:39:11.492+08:002011-02-14T11:39:11.492+08:00Please do.
